The cornea is the transparent front cover of the eye that protects the iris, pupil, and anterior chamber. Working in conjunction with the lens, the cornea refracts light and generates two-thirds of the eye's optical power.
Corneal Transplant
Much like other surgical transplant procedures, corneal transplants (also referred to as corneal grafts) replace damaged or diseased corneas with donated human tissue. The corneas used in corneal transplants come from recently deceased donors that meet established tissue quality criteria.
